About

This site is dedicated to a deeper understanding of the perennial philosophy, primarily through the development and use of a series of lectionary readings called the Lectio Mystica, a liturgy of liberation. The Lectio selections are taken from sacred and secular expressions of the perennial philosophy and are intended to support individual or group study on the ultimate human journey of exile, liberation, and return.

In addition to the Lectio Mystica, support for understanding the perennial philosophy will include essays, reviews, and links to other sources.

Guiding principles
1. The perennial philosophy is the non-negotiable hypothesis upon which the Lectio Mystica is created. It says that there is an unconfined, unqualified, and unqualifiable ultimate Ground and that our final end and purpose is to recognize the groundless Ground as our true identity.
2. The contents of the Lectio Mystica will be taken from the wisdom traditions of all lands and ages. It is nonsectarian and trans-sectarian, being within and beyond all sects.
4. The Mystical Lectionary will make full use of the medium in which it is formulated, which allows connections not only to the written word, but to the visual arts and music.
5. The Lectionary will not be finalized: “For small erections may be finished by their first architects; grand ones, true ones, ever leave the copestone to posterity. God keep me from ever completing anything. This whole book is but a draught – nay, but the draught of a draught. Oh, Time, Strength, Cash, and Patience!” (Moby-Dick)
6. There will be no financial remuneration for the Lectio Mystica.

Contributions
Any readings or other sources that reflect the perennial philosophy will be considered for inclusion in the Lectio.
